Rick's Restorations is the business featured in the History Channel show American Restoration. Rick's is owned and run by Rick Dale. Rick has been doing this a long time, and does some pretty nice work. I'll admit that I've only seen a couple of episodes of the show, but if I had a bunch of cash to blow and lived in Vegas, I'd probably check their place out just based on some of the items for sale on their website. I think it's cool that these guys spend their lives taking these old items and giving them new life.
Here's a tour of their operation:
and of their "boneyard" with the items to be restored:
A Pawn Stars spinoff that I have watched a bit. The History Channel is now just filled with these type of shows. History my ass.
ReplyDeleteI find these to be somewhat "historical," at least. Shows like this one and Pickers are taking older items, and telling you a bit about them. It's not shows about world wars, but it's better than Real Housewives.
DeleteI like these shows but it reminds me of MTV, VH1, etc. Their original premise has long since died and you sometimes wonder why they are still called their "old" names.
ReplyDeleteWell....everybody knows that history is boring, so the channel named 'History' had to find some way to make things more 'accessible' to the masses. And by 'accessible', I mean something that salespeople can relate to so that they are better at selling ads during these time slots.
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys know me well enough to know that I completely disagree with the statement I made in the first sentence that history is boring.
