 This is a big blow to the Rick World.   Our beloved Alan Rickman has passed away, aged 69.  Rick in Peace, man.

I didn't know who this guy was before, but CNN says he was a TV 'star' on MTV.  He died in a parachuting accident recently. Rick in Peace, man.

Rick Ducommun

Actor Rick Ducommun has passed away at age 62.  You can find his filmography here.  He was apparently fairly well known as the neighbor in The 'Burbs, but I don't really remember that movie.

Breaking News.

Former president of the University of Northern Iowa John J Kamerick has passed away at the age of 95.  Rick in Peace, good sir.

He oversaw the building of the UNI-dome, the finest dome in the great state of Iowa, during his presidency (1970-1983)

This video isn't about the man himself, but it is some student production about the arts buildings at UNI, one of which is named after the former president.

Richard Kiel

Richard Kiel has died at age 74.

JAWS!  No, not the shark.  The villain from James Bond.

And don't forget he was in Happy Gilmore as well.

Sir Richard Attenborough

Sir Richard Attenborough was a British actor, director and producer who died today at age 90.

Dick Jones

The voice of Disney's 1940 Pinocchio, Richard Percy Jones, has died at age 87.  While he went by Dick (or even Dickie), he'll always be Rick to us.  Rick in Peace, good sir.

Rik Mayall

British comedian Rik Mayall died on June 9th.   He was 56 years old.  Rick In Peace, good sir.

Rik was known from the comedies The Young Ones, Blackadder, and New Statesman, and appeared in the movies Drop Dead Fred and Guest House Paradiso.

What I like is that in looking through his acting roles how often he stayed true to his rickin' roots, playing characters such as Rick, Richie Richard, Richard Twat, Richard Rich, Richard Dangerous, Richard Richard, Richie.  Well done.

Broadcaster Garrick Utley has died today at age 74.

Richard Matheson

Here we go again with the RIPs.  Author and screenwriter Richard Matheson has died at age 87.  He wrote some episodes of The Twilight Zone as well as I Am Legend (made into Will Smith movie) and What Dreams May Come, among others.

Richie Havens

Along the Rick in Peace front, folk singer Richie Havens died this week at age 72.  He was apparently well known for his performance at Woodstock.  Per the NPR article about his death,

Havens was the first performer to walk onto the stage at the festival; he sat on a stool and performed for nearly two hours — including an improvisation that incorporated the spiritual "Motherless Child," later called "Freedom." It became a highlight of the documentary about the festival and introduced him to audiences around the world.

I'd never heard of Richie until the other day when I read about his passing.  I'm glad that Rick Show has given me a reason to start clicking on some of the headlines I come across.  You never know what you'll learn.

Richard LeParmentier

  I just found out that Richard LeParmentier died last week at age 66.  He is most well known for taunting Darth Vader is Episode IV.  It did not work out so well.   Rick in Peace.

Flair News

In more sad and recent news, Rick Show has learned that Ric Flair's son, Reid Flair, was found dead Friday morning at age 25.  Reid was also a professional wrestler, most recently working in All Japan Pro Wrestling.  I got all the way through writing this up for his connection to Ric Flair before I noticed that Reid's birth name was Richard, so on Rick Show he could have stood on his own.

In unrelated Flair news, while finding articles on Reid's death I came across this article noting that Ric was hospitalized recently.  We wish Ric and family all the best in this time.

Rick Show is sad to learn that actor Richard Griffiths, known to most of us for his role as Uncle Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, has died today at age 65
