Rick Derringer

Hey.  Did you know that Rick Derringer is a real American?  I feel like most people know this.  But if you didn't, you might want to take a listen below.  He mentions it a number of times. I've provided the version with the wrestling since I know there's a market for it here.  It's also a pretty killer video.

Ricky Gervais

We saw Ricky and Elmo previously.  I guess they like working together, because here they are again.  This time, Ricky puts Elmo to sleep.

Profiles in Rickery: The Richter Scale

You hear about the Richter Scale whenever there is an earthquake, but what do we really know?  Well, it was developed in 1935 by Charles F Richter at the California Institute or Technology to compare the size of earthquakes.  And it did just that.  For more details, the basic sciencey stuff is here, and a simpler, normal words description here.   Although people enjoy finding out how big quakes are on the Richter scale (it does have a catchy name), it has been mostly replaced since the 1970s with the Moment Magnitude Scale for large earthquakes.

Ricky's Theme

(Ed. note:  Had this post made up, but I wasn't sure when I was going to use it.  Due to the death of Beastie Boy MCA today, that time is now.)

Ricky's Theme is a song by the Beastie Boys.  Apparently it was originally on their album Ill Communication, but I know it from their all-instrumental album The In Sound from Way Out!   Below is the song via Grooveshark, and also a youtube clip if you prefer watching your music.

Richie Rich

From Rick Rickert, let's move on to another "double rick," although by Rick Show standards, a bit less pure.

Richie Rich (or Rickie Rick, as I currently prefer.  I'm sure somewhere in Europe someone calls him that) was a cartoon in the early 80s, based on comic books of the same name.  If you didn't figure it out from his name, the kid is, uh...rich.  Richie Rich.  He has things rich people have. There are more dollar signs in this cartoon than you would normally think would be appropriate.   However, given that the word 'rich' is in his name twice, maybe it's legit.  Old cartoons are fun.
