Dr Rick

It's been a long time, world of Rick. I couldn't resist this one. I find most commercials annoying, much more so once I see them over and over.  But Progressive has come up with a couple ads that I have to tip my hat to. The ad series featuring Dr Rick, "Parenta-Life coach", follows Dr Rick as he helps new homeowners avoid turning into their parents. 

Progressive started this type of commercial with some ads featuring people that acted "like their parents" once they bought a new house. I find the series overall to be a mixed bag with a few solid bits and a few misses. In adding Dr. Rick, however, they've nailed it.

I'm offended.  Some big shot ad man decided to take a shot at Ricks everywhere in this commercial.   For shame, GEICO.   Don Draper would never stoop to this!

Concerned that the rickin' spammers had forgotten about me?  They haven't.

Henrik here wants to give me a bunch of cash, all I have to do is send him some personal information.  Sounds legit.

   This next one is very interesting.  A puzzle for us.  Is her name Sondra Erick or Sondrae Rick or Sondra E. Rick?  This is important, because I'm not going to respond to her desperate pleas for help until I'm sure of her name.  Probably makes me a horrible person, but that's just how it is.

Update: Rick Spam

If you'll recall, back in November 2013 we had a "spirited discussion" (by that I mean 4 comments) about spam emails sent by Ricks.  I am pleased to report that I have once again been contacted.  Rickie emailed me with a fabulous offer to buy some luxury watches.  Alas, I am not in the market currently for a luxury watch, no matter how good the sale.  Even a blowout does not tempt me. Perhaps next time, Rickie.

EDIT:  And now Eric gets involved just days later!  

And these luxury watches are 'perfect', unlike those imperfect ones Rickie was trying to sell.  Game On.

This Rick has been marked as spam

I was perusing my Spam mail folder in Gmail the other day, and noticed an email from "Rick." Imagine my joy; an email from Rick himself! Rick was trying sell me "HIGH-END-DESIGNER-JEWELRY-WATCH-AND-HANDBAG-REPLICA-WINTER-SALE" at a website that I'll not even bother to print here. Why share my good deals with all of you lazy bums?

It got me thinking. What other Ricks have been trying to contact me, only to be thwarted by my damn Spam filter?

Just a few emails down, Rica Feldpausch let me know that she could help me have much more girls. Things were really looking up.

My hopes were through the roof at this point.  But, alas, I could find no more Ricks.  Not even in my Yahoo! spam folder, and I pretty much only use that email for things online I expect to generate spam.

While my dreams were dashed, yours might not be.  I ask you, readers (both of you...), check your spam folders!  Join me in this adventure! What surprises await?!

Rickard's is a Canadian beer.  It is made by Molson Coors.  Beer Advocate gives its brews in the range of a C rating.  In an interesting twist, I've found that it appears Rickard's White is Blue Moon branded using an existing Canadian brand after the Coors/Molson merger.  I thought that I'd never had a Rickard's, but maybe I have, just under a different name.
