Mike "Doc" Emrick is a sports commentator, mainly working with professional hockey (specifically, the NHL). He's been at the gig since 1973, and has won a number of awards for his work, including the Lester Patrick Award and was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. He currently works for NBC & NBCSports, but has worked for CBS, ABC, TNT, ESPN, Fox, CSTV, SportsChannel Philadelphia,PRISM, Fox Sports Net, and others in the past.
I'm not really an NHL fan, so I don't think I've heard his calls much outside of some Olympic coverage (he also called water polo in the 2012 Olympics, and I think I recall that as I watched a few games.), but apparently he has a penchant for finding different ways to indicate that a player passed the puck.
